Stealth Giftedness: Day 4

Welcome to Ten Days of Stealth Giftedness: A Crash Course on Incognito Intelligence

This is your guide to effectively hiding your giftedness from the world.

Kind of like being the James Bond or Jason Bourne of smart. Or both.

Like these boys.

Day 4:  Pretend you are never bored.

This may be the toughest assignment of all.

Are you up to it?

If you’re going to pretend to be typical in the intellect department,

you’re going to have to pretend that the following things interest you:

completing the same assignment you did the day before with mild alterations

listening to people read very s-l-o-w-l-y

books written at your “grade level”

and everything everyone else finds interesting

Since boredom is one of the hallmark emotions of the gifted, you must never, ever admit that you are bored, no matter how much it hurts, if you are going to maintain your disguise.

Arthur Schopenhauer said

Boredom is just the reverse side of fascination: both depend on being outside rather than inside a situation, and one leads to the other.

When you’re gifted, you’re often on the outside of the situation because everyone else is learning, and you’re not.
